Batata Vada
Ingredients :
- Boiled potatoes peeled and mashed (4-5)
- Oil for deep frying
- Green chillies and ginger (crushed)
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 2 tbsp Cashew nuts
- 2 tbsp Raisins
- 1 tbsp crushed whole Coriander Seeds,
- Black pepper and
- Fennel seeds
- Lemon juice
- Finely chopped coriander
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- pinch of Hing ( aseafoetida)
- Salt to taste
Batter :
•200 g gram flour (Besan)
•Salt to taste
Method:-
- Add 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and hing, when splutters, add crushed chillies and ginger.
- Fry them for few seconds, and than add cashews and raisins. Add mashed potato, salt(according to your taste) and mix very well.
- Turn off the heat, add lemon juice.
- Mix well and let it cool.
- Now divide potato mixture into a equal size balls.
- Mix salt with the gram flour, add soda water (optional) and mix very well. Batter should be medium thick.Leave it aside for 5-6 minutes.
- Heat oil in a frying pan for deep fry.
- Dip potato balls into a batter and fry into hot oil till light golden brown.
- Remove from the oil.
Serve hot with green chutney or Sauce .
