Sookhi Moong dal
Ingredients
Moong dal - 2 cups
Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1-2 pinch
Red chilli
Turmeric
Salt
oil/ ghee
Methods
In a pan heat oil or ghee. Add cumin seeds, after cracking.. add asafoetida.
After few seconds.. add soaked dal.
Fry the dal for 2-3 mintues
Now add turmeric, red chilli powder and salt (to taste)
Add 1 cup of water (donot overcook the dal)
Mix well and cook untill it becomes soft and tender.
For tadka..
Heat small pan.. add oil/ ghee
when oil becomes hot.. add 1/2 tsp of red chill powder
Serve hot with Roti
Pls let me know how long to soak the moong daal before cooking.

ReplyDeleteWash the dal and soak it in water(1cup dal- 3 cup water; as dal will absorb water) for 20 - 25 mints.
Rinse well and use it..
